Laser treatment can greatly reduces or lightens brown age spots, “liver spots,” freckles and other brown birthmarks. The specialized light produced by the KTP 532 Diolite laser is absorbed by the pigmented lesion. This process destroys the treated area, without affecting the surrounding skin. The treated area may appear red for a short time before the skin returns to its natural color and texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?
Most pigmented lesions are removed in one or two treatments. Deeper lesions may require more treatments. The number of treatments needed depends on a variety of factors, including the size, depth, and number of treated lesions in the skin.

 Will the pigmented lesion return?
Common pigmented lesions do not return. However, some birthmarks may return after a number of months or years. If this occurs, the procedure can be repeated.

Is treatment with laser painful?
The sensation of laser treatment can be slightly uncomfortable. It has been described as similar to the snap of a rubber band. However, anesthesia creams are available, if needed. Immediately following treatment, there may be a slight burning sensation, similar to a  light sunburn. Any discomfort normally disappears within a day or two.
